Sew for Baby DIY, Monogrammed Bib and Burp Cloth Set
The sew for baby DIY is fun, especially because it’s monogrammed.
We cut and painted the bandanna bib and burp cloth in an earlier post,
and today we’ll do the sewing to complete the project.
Are you ready?
Sew for Baby DIY: Finish the Bandanna Bib and Burp Cloth Set
- In the Monogram Bandanna Bib and Burp Cloth post, we cut the white pieces and painted the monogram.
Now we cut back pieces for the bib and burp cloth, out of knit or flannel. You want to use absorbent fabric, so cotton is the best choice.
You now have a total of 4 pieces. - Lay the two bib pieces and the two burp cloth pieces right sides together and pin around the outsides.
- Sew all around the pieces with a 3/8″ seam.
Leave about a 2″ opening on a straight length of seam to turn the pieces. - Turn the pieces right side out, pulling carefully through the 2″ openings left in the seams.
Press the edges, then top stitch 1/4″ from the edge all around both pieces. This will secure the openings where you turned them. - After pressing and top-stitching the bib and burp cloth you just need a snap closure on the bib.
I found snaps in my stash in my button tin. But if you don’t have any on hand, this is the package you can get.
Use a snap pliers to attach the snaps to each end of the bib, so it will close around baby’s neck.
The bandanna bib and burp cloth sew for baby DIY is finished!
That didn’t take long, did it?
Until next time,
