What Is Boho Chic Wedding Style: Is It For You?
What is Boho Chic Wedding Style: Is it for you?
It might be, if you love elements of nature,
muted color tones, and a sense of simplicity.
What is Boho Chic Wedding Style?
It’s difficult to put firm labels on Boho Chic Wedding Style.
Since the idea is based on ethereal natural accents and expressing your own special personality, there’s lots of room for interpretation with this theme.
“Boho” is shortened from the word “bohemian.” Wiktionary defines it as unconventional. While bohemian implies bright, gypsy or hippy style, boho chic dials it back to country rustic meets earthy nature.
If your wedding is in Church, unconventionality will be muted and more boho chic than bohemian.
But just a few touches is all you need to make a statement with this style that values simplicity.
What are some of those touches?
Muted Colors
One of the first things to decide for your wedding is the color palette, because everything from the invitation suite to the reception décor will reflect your chosen colors.
Most popular are toned-down earthy hues of the colors of nature. No bright, vibrant colors. Muted neutrals are best to bring out the relaxed, laid-back ambiance of boho style. Muted browns, greens, oranges. Any colors work, as long as they are muted and understated.
These are some of our favorite combinations:
Dried or Wildflowers
Your choice of florals depends on the time of year.
Wildflowers are perfect for spring and summer weddings. Airy, leafy bouquets for the tables, perhaps a stem or two in vintage bottles clustered for impact. In this post we talk about Summer Wedding Florals.
Fall and winter are the perfect seasons for dried flowers. Pick and dry your own in the summer for your winter wedding, or purchase them. They can be fairly expensive buying already dried from the florist, so drying greenery like eucalyptus and airy ferns could be an economical way to make your own dried arrangements. This post talks about dried flower choices and sources.
Organic Fabrics
In this post we talked about using linen in your wedding. In our opinion, linen is the ultimate natural fabric, with cotton a close second.
Buy bridesmaid’s dresses in colors from your chosen palette. Have them all the same color, or a variety of coordinating muted shades.
Natural, organic fabrics tend to wrinkle, so choose patterns and styles that look good sporting a few creases.
And of course, tables runners in natural colors and fabrics can bring a lot to the style of the reception. You can keep flowers or other elements to a minimum if you use runners. They are easy to make and dye to match your color palette, as we show you in this post.
