When a new baby joins the family there’s a lot of celebrating and gifting going on.
This sweet monogram bandanna baby bib and burp cloth set is special because it’s so personal.
Monogram bandanna baby bib and burp cloth set:
What you need:
- Bib, Burp Cloth and Monogram Pattern printable, which you can download by filling in the form at the bottom of this page. Be sure to enter the monogram you wish to use.
- 1/3 yard white fabric with a high cotton blend.
- 1/3 yard printed cotton or flannel fabric for the backs.
- matching sewing thread, sewing machine, scissors, straight pins, iron, soft lead pencil.
- fabric markers in the color of your choice. We used Tulip dual tip in black.
Cut the bib and burp cloth:
- Wash and machine dry the fabric before sewing. This will shrink the fabric, preventing the garments from distorting after all the work of sewing them. Press the fabrics smooth.
- Fold the white fabric on the cutting table as shown in the diagram.
- Print the pattern pieces on regular printer paper, then cut out and tape together where needed. Place the patterns on the fabric as shown, pinning in place. If you place the patterns as shown you will get 2 burp cloths. If you rearrange the folding of the fabric, you can make 2 bibs and 1 burp cloth.
- Cut carefully around the outside of the patterns. Remove the pins.
- Repeat the last two steps with the printed fabric.
Paint the monogram design:
- Place the white fabric on top of the monogram design. Pin in place. If you can’t see the design outline through the fabric, tape it to a window so the light will intensify the design. Trace the design with a soft lead pencil. Do this to all the white pieces.
- Paint the design with the fabric marker.
- Set the paint permanently according to the directions for your fabric marker.
