Ink Recap (Blog Review and More Random Good Things)
Ink recap: a blog review and more random good things
we want to share to help your weekend get off to a good start.
The Pollyanna of the ‘Net says,
“… there is something about everything that you can be glad about,
if you keep hunting long enough to find it.”
Weekly Ink Recap for Kimenink
On Mondays we talk about weddings and wedding stationery (because print and ink is kind of a big thing here) and our topic this week was which wedding stationery matches your bride personality. How fun is that? I have two great-nieces getting married this summer, and so weddings are of special interest in the family right now.
Tuesday is Baby day, and we brought you a fun Hand and Footprint Flower Art DIY. We love keepsake art, and we cloned the idea from a shop that sells them ready-made. Of course theirs are beautifully done, but we think making is part of the value of keepsake art, so we make a tutorial so you can have a try.
My niece shared a great recipe/dip idea with us that we printed on Wednesday. She says they use it on burgers instead of mayo, and as a dipping sauce for fried appetizers. The great thing about sharing this recipe? You can download it already printed on the recipe page that matches a Recipe Album you purchased from us. So if you haven’t already, grab your Basil Aioli Recipe page to add to your family favorites!
You know, by Thursday life can seem like it should be the weekend already. So we tried to encourage all of us to bring back rest to the nest with a few ideas we gathered around the ‘net. And dug up from our own experiences. Maybe you don’t need helps for keeping home calm and serene, but just in case you have a few hairy days and want some restoration, you can read How to Have a Restful Nest. It’s like a mini spa treatment from your couch.
Friday was the crowning day of this week. The glittles came to spend the day. Their mama joined a sewing bee to help a friend. Because of social distancing they couldn’t go with her, so we had a “Sleepover Saturday” without the sleep or the Saturday. We packed a lot in. Scrapbooking, cooking, games, and some couch time with books and songs. They asked for a Bible lesson, and the blog just happened to have one today. Rahab Saves the Spies is an exciting lesson, and, of course, free for GIFT Listers to download.
Ink Recap of Good Things Around the ‘Net
We can’t write about all the good things in individual blog posts, so this is our day to share ideas we’ve found around the internet.
Things we want to make or read and think you might want to know about.
We’re always on the lookout for sweet baby gifts, and these swaddle blankets look deliciously cuddly. Mostly rayon, so you know they’re going to be super soft.
We usually make our smoothies with frozen fruit, yogurt, spinach and milk. But for a quicker, simpler recipe with all the protein of Shakeology and the antioxidant boost of lemon juice? I’ll take it. Found this pic and recipe here.
This scripture is on my mind, and whatever place you’re in this weekend, it is always comforting. A close friend of ours was in an accident and it looked really bad for her at first. Could she survive her injuries? But the Lord seems to have more plans for her, and she’s still with us. Her life hasn’t always been easy, but she knows the Lord wants her here!
He wants all of us here, it’s just that we forget that sometimes.
When life gets difficult we wonder what the prosper part means.
I believe it means this:
If we remain faithful in doing His will here on earth, in spite of hardships and disappointments, He will prosper us in the end.
A book to read: Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate. I’ve enjoyed all of her books I’ve read so far. This one intrigues because the story was born from true history.
Need to plan a baby shower but social distancing makes it impossible? These ideas for having a virtual baby shower that’s actually fun are definitely worth a look. We think you could still benefit from using our Baby Shower Planner printables even for a virtual shower. However, the work load would be vastly shortened since you wouldn’t have to prep the venue choice or do any cooking.
I have a thing about my grandmother’s dishes, so this post by Victoria Elizabeth Barnes, whose writing style is always entertaining, made my day. And of course, it’s so totally my husband and me with the frugality piece. I have literally gotten physical with tubes of toothpaste because it seems we can’t open a new one until every drop is out of the current one. (Confession: sometimes I use the new one secretly while he empties the old one.)
Anything made with paper makes us smile. If it’s upcycled, added bonus. These paper table accessories are something we will definitely try, because I call this project a triple bonus. Paper, upcycling and sewing. Definitely a 12 out of 10 on the scale of good things.
So on this high note, we say
Until next time,
Love, Kim & Dorothy
