This is how it works:
Just fill in the pop up form,
then in 3 weeks – October 1 –
someone will win 30 Christmas cards of your choice
and we’ll ship them to you free of charge.
So take this chance to win your Christmas cards!
And anyone who enters the contest gets the chance to purchase Christmas cards at 50% off!
That’s our best offer of the year
practically a Black Friday sale from now till mid October,
when we quit mailing Christmas card orders.
We’re pretty excited about this
so fill in the pop up form to join us in preparing for the next Christmas Season.

Inspiring Inklings of Real Life
Remembering a great and gracious Queen
This week, Thursday, September 8, an amazing person passed away.
Everyone seems to have personal memories of one of the world’s longest reigning monarchs,
and I can’t get enough of the stories.
Here’s one of mine, as a child growing up in Canada, a country that still honors the queen as theirs.
I see a 6 year old girl carrying a basket of flowers, curtsying in front of the Queen.
The picture is a huge spread on the front page of our weekly Carillon News,
and I am in awe.
Because my family was there.
Not close enough to actually see the flower thing happen, but somewhere along the queen’s route, we were watching
and caught a glimpse of the queen waving her signature wave as the motorcade slowly passed by our spot on the roadside.
Sigh. My closest brush with royalty that wasn’t very close at all. But still made a sweet memory in a young girl’s mind and imagination.
This post is one of my favorite tributes I’ve read so far.
Kim’s Vacation Time
The last time Kim went out of town was back in March.
She enjoyed that so much.
Next week she gets to go see a friend (and her family of 3 littles) in California.
Tickets are bought, outfits picked out.
And that’s when she discovered she wanted a couple of new dresses.
So this week, we sewed.
And that brought about the tutorial on how to create a raglan pattern from a regular set-in sleeve pattern.
Knits sewn in a raglan design are so comfortable.
Therefore, if you don’t have a personal raglan pattern, try our DIY and make one with the pattern you always use.
In fact, I simply pin the raglan pattern onto the regular pattern, tuck the shoulder part down, and cut out the garment.
If you have any questions on how to do that, feel free to email us.

Instead of going to Starbucks, I make coffee at home,
yell my name out incorrectly, then light a $10 bill on fire.
Book of the week:
Uncommon Grounds: The History of Coffee and How It Transformed Our World
by Mark Pendergrast
Everything you wanted to know about coffee.
Amazon Review:
Uncommon Grounds tells the story of coffee from its discovery on a hill in ancient Abyssinia to the advent of Starbucks. Mark Pendergrast reviews the dramatic changes in coffee culture over the past decade, from the disastrous “Coffee Crisis” that caused global prices to plummet to the rise of the Fair Trade movement and the “third-wave” of quality-obsessed coffee connoisseurs. As the scope of coffee culture continues to expand, Uncommon Grounds remains more than ever a brilliantly entertaining guide to the currents of one of the world’s favorite beverages.
