Creation Story Day Four: Children’s Bible Lesson
God’s Creation Story Day Four:
God created the Sun, Moon and Stars.
Day 4, Day 4, sun and moon and stars galore!
Children’s Bible Lesson Printable with crafts included.
There was light before the fourth day of Creation, but it was not the bright light of the sun.
On Day 4 God created the sun to shine brightly during the day.
Then, when it gets dark, we have the moon and stars in the night sky.
So we always have some light. Some days are brighter than others, but it’s never completely dark.
And because of the sun and moon and the cycles of day and night they create,
we have the seasons of summer, fall, winter and spring!

God Created the Sun, Moon and Stars
”
And God said,
Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven
to divide the day from the night;
and let them be for signs, and for seasons,
for days, and years:
And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven
to give light upon the earth:
and it was so.
And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day,
and the lesser light to rule the night:
he made the stars also.
And God set them in the firmament of the heaven
to give light upon the earth,
And to rule over the day and over the night,
to divide the light from the darkness:
and God saw that it was good.
And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
”
Genesis 1:14-19
On the first day of creation,
God created Light.
Before God created Light everything was dark and the earth was a great void.
After God created Light, He separated the waters and created the firmament.
The firmament is the sky, which holds the air we breathe, and clouds that can drop rain.
Then on the 3rd day of creation God created land. He caused the waters to be contained in oceans and lakes and rivers, and land appeared.
After the land He created growing plants. He made plants with seeds, and plants with fruit that have seeds.
That was the end of the third day.
On the fourth day of creation, God created special lights in the sky.
The brightest light is the sun, which lights up the daytime.
Another bright light is the moon, the light that separates the daytime from nighttime.
Besides the brighter lights of the sun and moon, God made lots of lesser, or smaller, lights.
The lesser lights are the stars.
God put all these lights in the firmament, high in the sky, so they could be seen by everyone on the earth.
