Coffee Filter Angel DIY for Classroom Craft Time
Your children and/or students will love this simple coffee filter angel DIY. Make one or a whole fleet of angels to hang from the ceiling and keep watch over you.
Bear with me while I tell you one of my favorite angel stories.
My sister and her family were living in Mexico as missionaries, which involved traveling from one little church group to another to hold services. One evening, driving back to their home in the dark, the little girls needed a “rest stop.” There weren’t a lot of well-lit corner quick stops (make that none), so they stopped beside the highway.
My sister and her girls struck off into the trees beside the road, when suddenly a voice in her mind said, “Stop here. Don’t go any further.” She told me they’d been saved by this “angel voice.” When they saw the very same area later in daylight, she saw that if they’d walk any further in they’d have plummeted into a canyon.
Yes, angels are important in our lives.
Coffee Filter Angel
This cute coffee filter angel is perfect for a fun craft time, or use it as a craft for the Children’s Bible Lesson, The Parable of the Fishing Net.
What you need:
- Get the printable by filling in this form and requesting “Coffee Filter Angel DIY Printable.” It is the angel’s head with attached halo, and the memory verse card.
- Two coffee filters, one circle filter used in a regular coffee maker and one triangular filter used for pour over coffee.
- Tissue paper or paper towel for filler.
- Scissors, glue, a twist tie or small rubber band and fishing line for hanging.
How to make it:
- Cut out the angel’s head in a circle and the memory verse card into a rectangle.
- Open the circle coffee filter flat on the table. Pinch it into tiny pleats across the center, top to bottom. Then fasten the center with a twist tie or the small rubber band. Ruffle the “wings” out from the center into a nice shape.
- Tuck a scrunched up ball of tissue paper or paper towel into the triangular coffee filter. This will keep the angel’s skirt puffed out.
- Glue the angel’s head to the top of the angel’s skirt (the top of the triangular coffee filter).
- Glue the wings behind the head at the top of the triangular coffee filter.
- To hang the angel from the ceiling or lamp, poke a hole in the halo and knot some fishing line through.
- Attach the Bible verse, if this is for the Bible Lesson, onto the front skirt of the angel.
