It’s been awhile since we had a post about Do-A-Dot Art for pre-schoolers.
Or other pre-school activities like this color by numbers. Most of our Thursday Children’s Craft posts are geared to classroom art like this paint splat art and this upcycle book page candle jar, because 4 of our g’littles are in classrooms now. This fall-themed classroom art post has been our most popular of all.
But we still have one pre-schooler, so this is for her!
Do-A-Dot Art
This art form is quite specialized, as you have to have the Do-A-Dot Markers*. (affiliate link)
However, it’s a very simple art form, and fun for the youngest of children, as long as they can hold a pen in their hands. And these are chunky pens, so are very easy to hold.
The concept of these no-mess markers for very little tykes was created twenty five years ago. A part-time pre-school teacher and a full-time mom who loved to do art with her charges realized she was the exception rather than the norm. Most moms and teachers didn’t appreciate all the mess that comes with art with littles. So Tina and her husband invented the markers that take the mess out of art and painting with colors.
These are called washable markers, but some reviewers complained that they stained skin, and it was hard to clean the paints out of clothing and furniture and off walls. So, warning, know what your child is doing while she has one of these markers. Every parent knows how much more fun it is to paint everything but the art on the paper!
There are generic versions to these markers, but none are as well made and as long lasting.
