Caramelized Pigs in a Blanket

A sweet and savory mix of deliciousness. Very easy to put together.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup slivered almonds
  • 1 pkg. little smokies, large
  • 2 pkgs. crescent rolls (16 total)

Instructions

  • Melt the butter, and add water and brown sugar. Heat till mixed. Don't boil. Set aside.
  • Open the Little Smokies and drain on paper towel. The Pigs in a Blanket will be crisper if the smokies are dry. Set aside.
  • Open crescent rolls and divide at perforations. Cut each crescent into fourths, or thirds if you like more blanket on your pigs. We like fourths.
  • Roll a piece of dough around each little smokie and place in greased jelly roll pan.
  • Pour the caramel and almonds over the Little Smokies and bake at 375° for 15 to 20 minutes, until golden and the dough looks done.
