The Great Exodus Lesson 11: A Budding Rod
The Great Exodus Lesson 11: A Budding Rod. After God turned the people away from Canaan, they argued against Moses continually. God settled the question of leadership once and for all: with a budding rod.
God’s People finally stand at the borders of the Promised Land.
They escaped Egypt and the awful slavery.
God guided them through the desert and saved them from enemy attacks.
God told Moses to send 12 spies to check out the Promised Land. The spies returned with luscious fruits and reports of rich land. Two spies, Joshua and Caleb, thought they could defeat the enemies in Canaan. But the other ten were afraid of the giants and didn’t believe God could help them win. These spies influenced the people, and they didn’t trust God.
So God couldn’t allow them to enter the Promised Land. All the Israelites had to go back into the wilderness for another 40 years!
In this lesson we learn about God’s impatience with the arguing Israelites. He settles the question of leadership once and for all by choosing Aaron’s family to be priests and keepers of the Tabernacle. As a reward for their faithful service, God blesses them with a portion of the offerings.
