The Beginning of God’s Creation: Children’s Bible Lesson
The Beginning of God’s Creation:
Children’s Bible Lesson.
When Earth was dark and without form,
and God’s Spirit hovered over the deep waters.
That’s How it was in The Beginning of God’s Creation
Squeeze your eyes shut tight.
Cover your face with your hands.
It’s dark, isn’t it?
Now when you peek through your fingers you’ll see light.
Even if it’s dark outside and you turn off all the lights,
you’ll see some light after your eyes adjust to the darkness.
It’s possible to go into a windowless room and block all the light.
Would you want to be in a room like that?
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
God created the universe, with all the planets and stars,
and the world we live in,
there was NO LIGHT!
Not one speck. Not even one star shone up in the sky.
There was nothing!
There were no days and nights.
No clocks, and no time. No grass or trees or sky.
We call it blackness, but there was not even any colors.
God had not created colors yet.
We don’t know when God created the heaven and the earth.
But one day, He did.
Open your Bible to the very first page, where it says Genesis 1.
The very first words in the whole Bible say, “In the beginning God created the Heaven and the Earth.”
We don’t know what was before the beginning.
God was there before the beginning.
But nothing else, because in the very, very beginning of everything,
He created the Heaven and the Earth.
In the picture above are the Heavens and the Earth.
But you can’t see them, because there was no light yet.
The Heavens were dark. No moons, no sun, no stars.
And the Earth was void and formless. It was mostly covered with water.
The Bible says, “Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.” Genesis 1:2
Can you see the “formless” earth in the picture above?
When God created the Earth the land and water weren’t separated like they are now.
He created Earth as a form, separate from the heavens.
And God did this in the dark.
Are you surprised that God wanted light?
Are you glad it’s not darkness all around anymore?
Well, in our next lesson, we’ll read about when God created the light.
Because no one wants to imagine the universe without light. Or the earth without shape or form.
