The owl in Winnie the Pooh stories is a bit of a show off, but his silly mistakes make him even more lovable.

Snowy Owlet Facts

We didn’t name our fledgling owlets. Maybe you want to?

They’re twins, only 2.2″ long at birth! And unlike human babies, they’re born with a tooth. It’s to help them hatch out of the egg, and then after a week or two it falls off.

A mama owl can have up to 14 babies, but the typical nest will hold 4 to 6. The amount of food available to the owls will determine how many babies are born. God takes care of the owlets before the eggs are even laid! He knows how much food will grow in the forest that year, and if it’s sparse, the mama owl won’t lay more eggs than they’ll be able to feed.

Owlets stay in the nest only 6 weeks. Then they fly away and start their own life. By the time they’re 8 weeks old they are full grown, which could be up to 2 feet tall!
