Rustic Farmhouse Wreath DIY For Mason Jar Gifts
Rustic Farmhouse Wreath DIY for Mason jar gifts.
Fill jars with a cookie mix, soup mix or handmade lotion,
add this decorative jar ring and make someone’s day.
We love us some Mason jar gifts, like these bath salts or soup mixes.
Like these teacher gifts or this fairy nightlight (for which you would substitute this rustic jar ring wreath DIY instead of the one in the post).
And we think these lids could be perfect for Christmas hostess gifts or in a Christmas basket of goodies for a bestie.
Rustic Farmhouse Wreath DIY with Mason jar lid
Supplies:
- Mason jar rings and flat lids
- unbleached 100% cotton utility muslin
- measuring tape, scissors, hot glue gun and glue, heavy rubber band
- silicon finger tip covers
- recycled cards or these Christmas lid designs to download and print.
Directions:
- Prewash and machine dry the muslin. It will shrink and get wrinkly. This is what you want. If the muslin isn’t as rustic looking as you’d like, dye it in a bowl of tea or coffee, and let air dry.
- Mark the edge of the muslin in 1″ increments. Snip the edge, then tear strips. You want the raw edges, but not long strings hanging down. So trim the strips a little, then cut in 8″ lengths. You’ll need about 25 strips for each ring you make.
- This step might be easier with the ring screwed onto a wide mouth jar. Place the heavy rubber band on the ring. String the muslin strips through the rubber band, folding around the rubber band at half way. Keep adding muslin strips until the ring wreath is as full as you prefer.
- Double a long length of muslin strip and wrap around the ring over the muslin covered rubber band. Glue all around, or at least several places to keep it in place. Tie the ends into a bow if you wish. Or add a bow of a different color.
- Download and print the Christmas lid designs, or cut old Christmas cards into circles, using the flat lid as your pattern.
- Insert the paper design on top of the flat lid into the ring, screw onto a jar full of goodies, and your gift is ready to go!
