Pumpkin Spice Cinnamon Rolls and More Fall Favorite Recipes
Pumpkin Spice Cinnamon Rolls and More Fall Favorite Recipes
Why do we love pumpkin spice more and more every year?
And is pumpkin even healthy if it’s part of a dessert?
Pumpkin spice, which includes cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and cloves, is like instantaneous fall flooding our olfactory senses.
Then our brains take that scent and transform it into warm and cozy feelings, which have their root in memory.
If we didn’t have the memories, would we still love all the pumpkin spice food that shows up in fall?
Or, even though pumpkin pulp and seeds is indeed healthy, would we eat it if it wasn’t made into dessert?
Probably not. Even though roasted pumpkin chunks can be tasty, that’s not usually how we picture eating it.
So we’ll go both ways today.
First we’ll share some healthy pumpkin recipe links, then we’ll give you the real goodies.
Healthy Pumpkin Recipes
Savory Baked Pumpkin can be substituted for potatoes in a meal. It’s starchy, but much lower in carbs. There’s different ways to roast pumpkin chunks, but this recipe sounds delightful. Another way to eat these roasted chunks of goodness is tossing them in a salad.
Add pumpkin to soup for its health benefits. Use pumpkin puree in any soup such as vegetable or tortilla soup. It doesn’t alter the flavor that much, but it amps up the vitamins.
Then there’s pumpkin seeds. Called roasted pepitas, a handful makes a good snack. Or toss them into salad for some crunch bliss.
Pumpkin is a squash, and stir fried squash is delicious.
I’d love to hear if you’ve tried savory pumpkin recipes.
Pumpkin Yummy Desserts and Breads
Ree Drummond’s Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls are just as good as any of her delicious desserts. Some reviewers recommend adding more pumpkin that she lists, but you’ll have to try it yourself to know how you’ll like it.
One of our absolute favorites for fall is Pumpkin Yummy Dessert. You use a cake mix and pumpkin and melted butter, so how could you go wrong? We know that if you make it you’ll like it! And since it’s a dump cake, it’s so easy.
We can’t forget Pumpkin Nut Bread. So moist, and with the addition of nuts, over the top good. This is a large 2 loaf recipe, but I divide it into 5 mini loaf pans. This is an ideal size to take along to a friend as a little hostess gift. Wrap it in brown parchment paper and tie with twine, then stick a head of wheat into the twine.
Another oh-so-delicious pumpkin recipe is the Pumpkin Cake Roll. Filled with cream cheese and whipped cream filling, it’s like a pumpkin spice frappe in a plate. Mmm-mmmmm. These desserts could look daunting to a beginner, but believe me, they are much easier to make than you would think.
