Masks, Stickers and Dots (Ink Recap and Web Finds)
Masks, Stickers and Dots, an ‘Ink recap
of happenings on our blog this week,
plus ideas and inspiration we rounded up from Web finds.
The Pollyanna of the ‘Net says,
“… there is something about everything that you can be glad about,
if you keep hunting long enough to find it.”
Weekly Ink Recap for Kimenink
Monday: Weddings
This week we found lovely Wedding Face Masks any bride or her attendants could wear for the special day. It’s not easy transitioning into the new health guidelines, but it’s time to embrace safety. Because, if you don’t, you might be putting off your wedding indefinitely. And that’s just not acceptable.
Tuesday: Baby Day
You can find ready-made modest nursing dresses. Our favorites were from latchedmama.com. They have good variety, and many cover quite well.
However, we wanted you to be able to take your personal dress pattern and re-design it into a nursing dress pattern. So here’s our free pattern tutorial made as simple as we could make it! This coming week we’ll take you through the sewing process.
Wednesday: Kitchen
There’s no denying it, Pinterest boards have a lot of inspiration and motivation. My two year old granddaughter already knows this!
Which is just what we need to whip an unorganized pantry into shape. That’s why we bring you Pantry Labels you can download and print for free AND they match your Recipe Binder.
All set for your Pinterest-worthy pantry!
Thursday: Craft Diys
Last year the World Health Organization released guidelines for screen limits for children. Their recommendations for 8 to 18 year old children was no more than 2 hours a day. Children 2 to 5 shouldn’t have more than 1 hour.
That leaves parents (and grandparents) with the responsibility of finding activities beyond screen time. And some days, it’s too hot to tell them to go play outside, even if they have a pool in the backyard.
So it helps to find new activities to supplement your children’s favorites when boredom hits.
That’s where Do A Dot markers hit the spot. Pun intended.
Use our links to find free Do A Dot Art activity downloads all over the web.
Friday: Sharing God’s Greatness
A Rebellious Runaway is a free Children’s printable Bible Lesson of the Prodigal Son. You get a 3 page lesson story with pictures, glue in activities, pencil activities and an art project.
This week’s story is about a rich man’s son who envied his partying friends. So he ran away. What do you think happened?
Ink Recap of Good Things Around the ‘Net
This was a quiet week at Kim&ink, so we had some time to read and learn lots of Good Things.
Here’s some of our finds:
You might think we’ve come a long way since medieval times, but, guess what, we still use some of the same cooking tools and techniques that they did back then.
For example, anyone who uses fresh herbs for cooking probably owns a mortar and pestle. Used since the beginning of time in one form or another.
This article is an interesting read on some of the kitchen tricks that have held over.
Area Rugs
So Kim (and her dog Andy) moved into our barn apartment this week, and we’ve been looking for rug options. The floors are a dark wood, and the curtains are dark denim with red handkerchief accents. Barn wood accents a wall and a barn wood rolling door opens into the bedroom area.
So we thought these rugs from Walmart in the cream and blue would look good. We haven’t ordered them yet. What do you think?
Farmhouse Chandelier
My husband brought a vintage ladder home one day that is amazing. It is completely held together with wood, no metal nails or screws. We have it in the family room holding throws and magazines. And a monkey neck cushion that vibrates, which the grandgirls love!
Now this idea for an old ladder is pure genius. She shares how to make it on her blog post. And take time to look at the rest of her website. I love it.
Coffee or Tea?
Whatever your favorite, we have an option for you.
So no beverage wars necessary.
Stone City Coffee Roasters is a Canadian company. Actually, started by my nephew and his wife. They went from 0 to 90 in a matter of months.
That’s because their coffee is good. Be sure to try the Berkeley Blend first, and then proceed from there.
I’m not sure they ship to the US yet, but when they do, I recommend trying them.
And just two weeks ago a couple of sisters with South Dakota roots started a website for their tea business.
They also have self sourced quality herbs and spices.
Check out this down home blog. You only have to read a post or two to know where their hearts are.
They don’t have a shop on their brand new site, but I expect that to come soon.
If you contact them, I’m sure they’ll be glad to share their wares via email.
And more to inspire your coming week…
Everyone is trying so hard to stay on top of courage these days, and You Deserve Cake for your efforts.
Finding yourself with extra time on your hands? Maybe you want to take a course. They’re free for 30 days; take any course you wish!
Do you find faces everywhere? In clouds, the front of a car, in tree shapes? There’s a name for that, and it’s a common phenomenon. Read about Pareidolia here.
Is there a book on your bucket list you want to read? I’m thinking of reading The Dutch House by Ann Patchett. It’s been on the bestseller lists forever and was a finalist for a Pulitzer Prize. Have you read it? What do you think, would I like it? It sounds slightly dark, and I’m not sure the learning experience will outweigh my qualifying list for reasons to read a book. I’ll let you know.
Do you like shopping fair trade? Just to know the thing you buy is helping someone somewhere to make a better home for themselves. This tea-towel. We Are Family (I got all my sisters with me). In love.
So, to end on a high note, what would you choose to live over again? Paris? Rome? or shucking corn? Everyone needs a funny, poignant story to take on the road next week.
