Kim’s Birthday Shrimp Bash and Air Bake Oven Pans
Last Sunday we had Kim’s Birthday Shrimp Bash,
which we could celebrate on a Sunday
because of an air bake oven pan!
So last week, in the midst of VBS,
and this happens every single year, poor her,
was Kim’s birthday.
As it turns out, every single year, we wait till after Bible School is over to have her party.
You already know she’s not big on crowds, and there isn’t lots of family living nearby,
so her choice this year was having her brother, his wife, and her 3 nieces over for Sunday dinner.
She planned her menu with all her favorites.
In addition to this menu, she chose Raspberry Pretzel Salad, which her SIL kindly made (in a bowl, not the dessert cups, because we served it with the main meal. Ask me why we serve a sweet salad with a meal!).
With all her favorites taken care of,
and because she’s never been a big dessert fan,
her dad baked this pie. One of his favorites, which it turns out, Kim loved included in her birthday meal.
This is the ice cream recipe that goes with birthday parties in our family.
Shrimp: Oven Baked with an Air Fryer Pan
We go to church twice on Sunday. Morning and evening.
So I didn’t want the house (and all hair and skin) to smell like frying oil.
Kim’s SIL had the remedy for that.
She has this pan, which we popped into a 400° oven for the time suggested for frozen breaded butterfly shrimp. (It’s the best: all-ready-to-fry shrimp from Sam’s Club.)
We were amazed with the results! This is absolutely going to be the way we do breaded shrimp from now on. Forget heating oil, ever again! And this is a major switch for the man of the house, as he’s firmly believed deep frying was the only way to go!
And the best part?
The racks are non-stick!
No soaking and scraping to clean baked on drippings!
So, bye-bye, deep fryer. Air bake is the new way to go.
USA Pan Company, you saved our birthday bash!
(There’s an affiliate link or two in this post. So please go buy something on Amazon. 🙂 So after about a year I can buy an air bake pan for myself instead of using my DIL’s!)
