Inspired Scripture Markers DIY: Quick and Easy Craft
Inspired Scripture Markers DIY:
Quick and Easy Craft to mark the verses
and make quick notes in your Bible during Church service.
Sometimes you just need a little note added to the bookmark you use to note the scriptures your pastor reads on Sunday morning.
Like which verses he read, or a quick quote of something he said that you want to think about later.
For awhile now I’ve been using the little sticky page markers for this, but was a little embarrassed because the papers I found were bright and kid-friendly. Not mature and thoughtful, you know, the way a grandma wishes to be perceived in Church services.
So today was the day I finally sat down and created scripture markers I like.

What you need:
- White sticky notes*
- Shimmer watercolor paint (I can’t find the brand I use on Amazon. Prima is a good, economical brand.)
- Gold metallic paint*
- No. 10 flat paint brush*, cup of water, soft paper towel, scissors, ruler, pencil
The How:
- Use the ruler to divide each sticky note into 4 pieces of even size. Cut with the scissors.
- Line the sticky notes onto a piece of plastic, like the cover of a notebook or the clear cover on your Cricut mat. This is to make the application of paint more efficient.
- Prep a puddle of shimmer paint, then swipe streaks of color onto the sticky note pieces.
- Pour a tiny puddle of gold metallic paint, dip the flat edge of your brush into the gold paint. Streak a little gold onto the notes with the corner edge of the brush.
- Pick up a note and dip the edge into the puddle of gold paint. Repeat with all the notes, then stick back onto the plastic so they don’t touch, and let them dry.
- Stack them up, and put them into your Bible, with a flat pen* for taking notes next Sunday morning.
- Note: you may want to paint both sides of the sticky notes, so they look the same from both sides as they stick out of the edge of your Bible. I didn’t see this discrepancy before, sorry!
This has been my go-to scripture marking method for several years now, and I still think it’s the best way I’ve tried. It doesn’t take a lot of room, as you keep only a small stash for each weekend.
When you get home, take that day’s markers out and transfer to your journal or wherever you keep your Scripture diary and inspirations. Add blank sticky notes for the next weekend right away so you’re never out of something to write on when the best quote ever comes along.
I usually just use these for Church, and use a different method for at home Bible study.
