This week’s ‘Ink Re-cap 110
Happenings in our shop(s) and on the blog.
Plus inspiring stories for your weekend.
This time of year our state has a standard BOLO out.
Be on the lookout for birds.
October is the month we start to see the birds on their migration routes.
For some this is the end of the line. (Like the snowbirds, who aren’t really birds at all. They come in all shapes and sizes and colors and live in houses. We love everything about them, except they drive cars and our roads get really, really busy.)
But all the other traveling birds are fascinating, too.
The other day we say a black cloud lift off from our neighbor’s pasture. The blackbirds are back.
I’m not a birder, so I can’t tell one blackbird from another until they land on my lawn.
However, I love these harbingers of cooler weather, and the different birdsongs we get to hear this time of year.
When the hummingbirds come, we know for sure it’s fall.
Ruby-throated, rufous, calliope, black-chinned, Anna’s, Costas – you can see them all.
A feeder is super active at this time of year.
The blog had some good stuff this week. Here’s the re-cap:
We made a list of tasks every new bride needs to do to change her name. Just saying “I do” and signing the marriage license isn’t enough. Your state, your bank, and every line you add your signature needs some sort of confirmation that you are now Mrs. instead of Miss.
With winter babies coming soon, there’s a post filled with winter baby shower ideas. Starry nights, hot chocolate, fluffy, soft whites. There’s just too many cozy ideas to use them all. Have fun planning!
Some people are baking Christmas Fruit Cake about now, and storing it away to cure for the holiday season. Well, fruit cake is considered a “when your sweet-tooth is starving and there’s no chocolate” sort of dessert in our family. We don’t. make. fruit cake. Ever. But that doesn’t mean we don’t love dried fruits like craisins and golden raisins. And nuts. Oh, yes, nuts. So when Mr. kimenink brought a Very Fruity and Fluffy Bran Muffin home from a kind client, we knew we had to get the recipe. There is no resemblance to fruit cake in this Triple Fruit Bran Muffin recipe besides the list of dried fruits and nuts you can add to make them extra yummy.
We didn’t forget the children this week. Check out our Masked Bandit Racoon Craft and the Bible Story Lesson about Zacchaeus, the poor rich man who needed a friend.
Re-caps from the net: ideas and stories to inspire you on the weekend…
This is the season to make Pumpkin Ice Cream. Yum. And if you need dairy free? This is your recipe. Find it here.
Did I tell you my son’s old 1919 house is getting new windows? They’ll have scads of lovely old windows to play with. I’ve already decided what I want to do with one of them. This stencil idea for an old window. My friend at Funky Junk sells the stencils, too!
Everyone is feeling as if 2020 is five years long instead of not even one yet. How do you keep yourself sane? This podcast suggests doing something familiar in a different way to make it fun again.
I love, love this idea for staying in touch with friends and family.
And a quote to take with you today:
Have a blessed and beautiful weekend!
