‘Ink Re-Cap 189: Random Sketches and Scribbles
‘Ink Re-Cap 189: Random Sketches and Scribbles
on a sunny Saturday after a week of work and friendship. And Christmas cards forever…
Beautiful Christmas everywhere…
When the g’littles visit at Christmas time
wonderful things happen.
They dress up like little angels (it’s amazing what a glittery piece of sweater knit fabric can wrap up to be)
and perform Christmas carols so you have your very own concert right in your family room.
But what’s really amazing
in this modern digital age is our little magic phones,
where you can just get a link and listen to a live Christmas Program almost every evening
of the whole month of December.
Many of the Church youth groups and schools tell the most beautiful Story
again and again
in song and verse
and it’s a new miracle every time.
Christmas is in the air and it’s the greatest Story ever told.

Friendship at Christmas
What do you do with your friends at Christmas?
Most of us have family gatherings and family gift exchanges; work gatherings and work gift exchanges.
But do you have special friendship gatherings?
If so, what are some things you do to make friendship special at Christmas?
A few of our friends used to put on an elaborate Christmas dinner, adults only, with a gift exchange. The meals were as fancy as we knew how to make them. One time we even did a flaming dessert! Not that it worked that great, because we were young and confident and we didn’t practice ahead of time. Made for great memories though.
Somehow with families growing up and their activities taking more time, we’ve got out of the habit of doing friendship things. And I wish it wasn’t that way.
So if you have any ideas or things you do every year, we’d love to hear about them.
Just email us at kimenink@gmail.com or better yet, comment right here on the post.
Need a Gift Idea?
I spent a day with an away friend visiting our city for a week, and we went to Barnes and Noble.
If you need the one best smelling Christmas candle ever, order this one. I wish I was an affiliate for them, but this link is straight from my heart because it’s an amazing scented soy candle from a place you don’t think to buy candles. At least I didn’t.
Chuckle (Groan)
Why doesn’t the Grinch like knock, knock jokes?
Because there’s always Who’s there.
Books of the week:

It’s not hard to come up with books to read at Christmas time, is it? Always the old favorites, like…
The Gift of the Magi
by O. Henry
I don’t want to give away any of this story, because it’s not a long read. Rather short, actually. But it’s a twisty story about what happens when a young couple buys Christmas gifts for each other.
One of my favorites…
An Evergreen Christmas, Treasured Classics for the Yuletide Season
From several vintage authors.
Amazon description:

This treasury is sure to warm your heart and light up your holiday season with stories from beloved authors including world-renowned literary greats:
- Louisa May Alcott
- Charles Dickens
- L. M. Montgomery
- Hans Christian Andersen
- W. B. Yeats
A thoughtfully curated collection of treasured stories, An Evergreen Christmas captures the spirit of the holiday season through classic works celebrated by generations past and generations to come.
How The Grinch Stole Christmas
by Dr. Seuss
Everyone knows this story, but here’s what Amazon says about it:
This season of giving, give a gift that’s never been given before—a full color edition of How the Grinch Stole Christmas! Originally published in 1957 using just 2 different colored inks (red and black), this new, jacketed edition features Dr. Seuss’s original illustrations in full color for the very first time—the way he’d have likely colored them had he published the book today! While this edition is not a replacement for the original, we think it makes a cheerful addition to the Dr. Seuss canon that is bound to appeal to Dr. Seuss fans of all ages. PS: The drabness of the Grinch’s life in his cave compared to the happy, vibrant life of the Whos in Who-ville has never been easier to see!
