Inspiring Inklings of Real Life
New York in October
Yep, we did. We bought tickets to attend our congregation’s young bachelor’s wedding.
To a girl who happens to live in the fall gorgeousness of New York State.
Could there be any better time to visit the northeast?
And the coup de grâce? My sister lives only 4 hours from this place… definitely an incredible way to end a great trip plan.
Also, we fly home from Buffalo, only 30 minutes from Niagara Falls.
Cue jealousy…
but better yet, come join us!!
Riddle me this
in honor of our newest products:
What do you call it when you walk into a coffee shop and feel like you’ve been there before?
Anyone who comments the right answer on this post will get a free Pro/Caffeinated Coffee Card.
Books of the week:
The titles are links to Amazon bookstore.
To Sir, With Love
by E. R. Braithewaite, PhD
As a former teacher and current tutor, Becky Smith enjoyed this book, and was kind enough to share it with us.
It truly is an amazing story with great reviews. The reader reviews are better than the main Amazon review, so do read some of them.
Amazon Review:
When a woman refuses to sit next to him on the bus, Rick Braithewaite is saddened and angered by her prejudice. In post-war cosmopolitan London he had hoped for a more enlightened attitude. When he begins his first teaching job in a tough East End school the reactions are the same. Slowly and painfully some of the barriers are broken down. He shames his pupils, wrestles with them, enlightens them and eventually comes to love them. To Sir With Love is the story of a dedicated teacher who turns hate into love, teenage rebelliousness into self-respect, contempt into consideration for others – the story of a man’s own integrity winning through against all the odds.
Kid’s Book of the week:
Charlie Anderson
by Barbara Abercrombie
The beautiful art work in this book drew me in, and I stayed for the simple story about a cat who has two homes he loves equally.
If you have foster children, or care for children who have more than one home, this book fills in some blanks. Reviewers claim their children were helped by the story.
Amazon Review:
Charlie, a fuzzy gray cat, walked out of the woods one evening and into Elizabeth’s and Sarah’s hearts. Now he sleeps on their beds, lets them dress him up in doll clothes, and laps up warm milk on chilly nights. But where does Charlie go during the day?
It’s not until a storm keeps Charlie away one night that the two sisters discover his other, daytime, home. But maybe that’s not such a bad thing. Because, just like Elizabeth and Sarah, Charlie has two houses, two beds, and two families who love him very, very much!
