Sketches, scribbles and inklings about life.
Saturday Sleepover with the g’littles
and a new print to tape to your mirror for next week.
This was a busy week.
We’d take a couple of boxes out to the mailbox and think we could relax.
Then two more orders for Bible School kits would come in,
and our factory started up again.
We L-O-V-E this time of year!

Saturday Sleepover
We’ve been looking forward to one of these for awhile. We know we’ll have a mighty whirling, wacky weekend when the g’littles come for sleepover, but it’s still so much fun.
This time around they helped us with Bible Lesson kit packing. I’m looking forward to hiring them on the factory line for years to come! Girls need money, grandma needs help. Perfect.
Then we took a break or two, resting and, in the littlest one’s words, “can we watch the ‘puter?”
One tries to find something that doesn’t cause nightmares, but they insisted watching car accidents didn’t give them bad dreams. So we listened to the video announcer say, “Outstanding car model crash compilations” and “brain dead driver crash compilations.” I don’t know what a 3 year old thinks compilation means, but that’s the word she picked to recite over and over. When a dumb truck driver turned a corner so fast his trailer began to tip, she put her hands toward the screen and tried to catch it before it hit the ground.
Let me say this, we didn’t watch any fiery, gruesome accidents. But the truck tippers and bus scrapers did manage to give me crazy dreams, even if the girls claimed they didn’t have any. And going out on errands the day after? I was the veritable grandma slowly puttering down the street.
So even if the littles think they’re great entertainment, I believe we’ll refrain from here on out. I mean, who watches car crashes for fun? Apparently we do. Or did. (They also like watching airplanes having scary moments.)

Top Sellers This Week
This week was all about packing boxes and more boxes
filled with Vacation Bible School kits.
Posting off to far away states like Indiana, Missouri and New York.
This is the time of year to devote to our favorite labor of love.
(We don’t make a profit on bulk orders of these kits. Because we want all the little children to have a chance to learn about Jesus.)

Inspiring Inklings of Real Life
Tlaquepaque:
I read a list of things only people in Arizona know.
One of those is knowing how to pronounce Tlaquepaque.
If you’ve never been to this awe-inspiring market place, put it on your bucket list of things to do in your lifetime. We used to go (before Covid) up there every few weeks in summer. And now it’s open again!! Yay!
Sometimes we just went up for the evening to eat at El Rincon.
Now we can start taking our little trips again, to cool off at a higher elevation as our valley steams the summer away.
Inspiring Book: “The Debt I Owe” by Johnny Miller
I’m picking this book in honor of Memorial Day weekend,
for the many young men and women who served in World War 2.
Johnny was a CO, a young man who wanted to serve his country, but as a pacifist and conscientious objector, could not bear arms against man. Our wonderful government makes it possible for people like Johnny to do their part in a service besides the battlefront. Although Johnny’s life was definitely at risk at times, it wasn’t the enemy’s gunfire he dodged. He served his country as an orderly in a hospital, caring deeply for patients who often got forgotten in short staffed, busy hospitals. Your heart pounds as you follow him into a room nurses called him to, to calm a raving man they couldn’t control.
It’s not always a fun read, but it’s a worthy and well-written memoir we need to take time to read in honor of noble warriors.

Our totally useless factoid for the week.
Who knew 50 words could say so much?
This is the super popular children’s book that is the result of that 50 word challenge.
