‘Ink Re-Cap 121: Inspiring Inklings for The Weekend
‘Ink Re-cap 121
Happy Weekend to all our lovely friends!
Plus inspiring inklings to uplift and
encourage each other for this life we live.
I think this was the best week ever.
It feels like I’ve finally kicked the lingering after-life of Covid to the curb.
Isn’t recovery the worst, those of you who had it?
It’s almost worse than actually having it, if you’re fortunate, like us,
to have a milder case. I didn’t get the sore throat and respiratory problems.
Just felt sick forever. And then couldn’t get my energy levels back to BC (before covid).
Until now, 3 weeks after quarantine.
So, here’s the re-cap on what our pen/paints/tools did this week on kimenink:
‘Ink Re-Cap 121
Do you love planning parties?
I do if I don’t have to do the work of making all my ideas. But this week I had so much fun pretending a bookworm friend was getting married. How would I make the invitation? What games could we play? How would we do the décor? That’s how we ended up with 17 Bridal Shower Ideas for a Bookworm Bride. Seventeen, people.
I got to keep my littlest g’little on Tuesday, and we planned a surprise for Mommy. You have to check out The Madeline Dress My Way. I’d been saving this free pattern for awhile, and now was the time to figure it out. My niece sewed it for her little girls for Christmas, and they were Dar-Ling!!
I ventured out to our (my husband’s) shop this week. It used to be more ours. (One year I got a band saw for Mother’s Day.)
That was when I still knew where everything was, and didn’t have to stand in the center of the tool room and hem and haw and wonder where the measuring tape is kept and the hammer and the screws. I’m happy to say I found what I needed, and he had just the wood pieces in his trash can that I needed for my project, which ended up as a Beaded Poster Hanger DIY.
I’m still not sure about this title:Â Angry Women: Refuse Offense or Feeling Offended. I read the account in Matthew about the Canaanite woman, as I searched for Bible women who had difficult lives. Somehow it morphed into the topic of offense. And how this woman who hounded Jesus, and was referred to as a dog by Him, refused to be offended. I hope you weren’t offended by the title.
And now for our
Inspiring Inklings
You know, for a desert dweller, I’m surprisingly ignorant about succulents. The exact plants that grow best here. So my friend’s helpful post Steps and Tips to Pot a Succulent could save me from the disaster that happened the last time I tried.
Some of you may know that our second son had a stroke when he was 29. A parent feels so despairingly helpless when a child faces death. And when that child recovers, you want to somehow repay the gift God granted. My friend wrote a tutorial, How to Make a Doll Blanket. She makes blankets for a cause after her son’s journey through 4 brain surgeries to recovery. She turned her gratitude into a giving attitude. Their story is heartwarming.
I definitely want to try making this Fun and Easy Spring DIY. Off to Home Goods to shop now.
I may or may not have linked to this website before, but I just found her Art of Painting Furniture teaching library, and have to share it with you wannabes like me.
I wish I’d known this friend before we built our barn. Her barn ideas are spot on. Especially the very first one. Maybe we need to do a barn addition! (Add the covered sides and lovely posts.)
And now, travel with me to
Outer Space
This week we attended a fundraiser for the school our g’littles attend. The theme was Outer Space. The décor was amazing, but the food was out of this world! For dessert they had Cherry Berries on a Cloud. Remember that old fashioned recipe? I had forgotten how delicious it is. You need to try it!
And remember how we used make fun of Martians (what we called space aliens) and people who saw them? You can now hear real time audio from the red planet, thanks to the rover making its first landing. I don’t hear any Martians talking though. What do you think about space exploration? Important or not so much?
I’m not sure I’m interested in space life, but having an awesome life on earth is important. And humor is a huge contributor to happiness. One example of adding lightheartedness to life: in Scotland they name their snowplows. Lord Coldemort. On Her Majesty’s Slippery Surface. Snowcially Distanced. Mary Queen of Salt. That would put a smile on your face as you wait for the road to be plowed so you can go home from work.
I thought of a book today that always put a smile on our boys’ faces when they were little. Pickle Things by Marc Tolan Brown. I should have kept the book in a glass case. Today, the edition we had costs upwards of $40. This is a definite need-to-have book for littles. Get the reprint now in circulation. Same book, new cover.
And now, a quote from the most important book of all:
We hope you enjoyed our inklings.
Have a blessed and beautiful weekend.
Until next time,
Kim & Dorothy
Kim, your creativity is just so wonderful! What a lovely list and post. I didn’t realize you had covid. Im sorry. Our whole family had it in Dec. And then Philip’s blood clots in his lungs afterward. Yes it took FOREVER to get strength back.
Yes, covid. Will we ever forget? I’m glad you and yours made it to the bright side again. Blood clots are scary. How did you find them before they did any damage?
What a beautiful weekly you have shared with us! So many amazing items to view. Thank you for your very kind words and sharing my story, my cause and my doll blanket. Be blessed this weekend, Dorothy.
Thank you, Kim. We appreciate your kind words and visit so much. Did you know you have the cutest name ever for a website? I thought you must be in England!
What a fun recap! Thanks for including my succulents article! Hope you do try to pot some 😊
Oh, I want to. Kim has an aloe plant outside, but her inside aloe didn’t thrive. Maybe with your help…
