‘Ink Re-Cap 113: Family Calendar, Cutest Plaid Flannel and…
‘Ink Re-cap – Number 113.
Family calendar, Christmas cards, cutest plaid flannel
for a snuggly dog-bed cover, and more.
Wow. The last two weeks threw us a curveball.
We were calmly going about our planned activities:
filling Christmas card orders
and Kim making her Christmas scrapbook pages.
Then, wham, bam, family chat slam.
My brother asked if we wanted a family calendar with all the birthdays and anniversaries for next year,
and 3 brothers and 6 sisters (yep, we’re 10!!!)
said “I want 3!” and
“Me, too. I want 6.”
We don’t have mom to keep count anymore, sadly. She left us this summer, at 98 years old.
She still kept amazing track of her new greats, and great-greats. (5 born this year.)
So our calendar looks like the census of a small country,
and it’s challenging getting all four generations recorded.
But this is a great way to keep our family together across the miles
so we’ll do our best to get this calendar through our printer and passed around to everyone.
Kim found the cutest plaid flannel to make cozy winter covers for her dog’s beds.
We decided if there was any left we’d use it for Christmas decor, too.
Or even flannel shirts. We’ll let you know what happens to this bolt of beauty she got.
Capping the pen and wrapping up our last 2 blog weeks.
Besides the new family calendar orders,
kimenink was busy.
A post for saving money on caterers at your weddings by having a food prep party, then this week, a recipe for Frozen Fruit Cups.
With Thanksgiving around the corner we experimented with a dessert beyond the traditional pumpkin pie. And came up with Pumpkin Ice Cream Dessert topped with Homemade Praline Pecans.
We created our version of Ruffle Butt diaper covers, and give you a free ruffled diaper cover pattern and the sewing directions (SO-O-O Cute!!).
An update on the cement planter project we published last Christmas.
Another Children’s Bible Lesson for home-schooler’s Bible Study.
When we print new card designs we end up with a lot of mess-ups. Insides printed upside down, or printed portrait when it should be landscape. It’s discouraging and wasteful. So we came up with some Recycled Christmas Card Ideas so we didn’t have to feel so bad about all the expensive trash. If you’re into recycling and using up, these ideas will be just your style.
We also got more Christmas listed in our stationery shop and our Etsy store.
‘Ink Re-Cap 113 wouldn’t be complete without
some feel-good stories and fun crafting and outing ideas
for your weekend.
We love hearing cute kid stories,
so the little girl who prayed “Howard be thy name…” made us smile.
My little niece sang, “Low in the gravy lay…” when she first heard that Easter hymn.
Our 3 year old grand-little will be a natural singer. She hears a song, she keeps time. A lively tune makes her dance, and everyone knows our family doesn’t dance. So that makes it funnier for them to watch her. It’s pure happy reaction.
Have you wondered what you could do to help people suffering from isolation during this Covid pandemic?
A couple in England didn’t hesitate when they got the chance.
And offered their beach cottage to a single dad and his two little boys. They spent 23 hours a day every day in a one bedroom apartment. Nearby parks were closed and being out in public is discouraged. Life was a challenge, so a week at the beach sounded like heaven to them.

While waiting in line for a free bagel, Simon Sinek got shoved aside by a line cutter.
“That’s when I realized that there were two types of people in the world: those who see what they want, and those who can only see what’s getting in the way of what they want,” he says in his TED talk on “How to Change Your Future.”

Fire Dept. Coffee Company gives 10% of all coffee sales profits to firefighters to help them rebuild. And their Christmas blend reportedly is the best. Fortunately, right now they’re running a 10% off sale so visit them here.
If you love making cards, Tim Holtz embossing folders and copic markers, here’s the card you want to make.
I was looking for ideas for our 2020 Christmas card, and came across the beauty. With a stash of punched poinsettias made with dyed coffee filters, I’m looking for ideas to use those on the fronts. We’ll show you next time.
