‘Ink Re-Cap 111 and Inspiring Words for Your Weekend
This week’s ‘Ink Re-cap – Number 111!
Happenings in our shop(s) and on the blog.
Plus inspiring words for your weekend.
If you’ve ever worked in retail or at a magazine,
you know that we kind of live life 2 or 3 months ahead.
That is, as far as products and planning for consumers goes.
So while you all are eating Halloween candy and freaking out over bad yard displays,
we’re listing Christmas cards and mailing Christmas gifts someone can give to someone else in 2 months.
We also are beginning a week of special evening meetings at our Church
that will help us concentrate on Higher Things and get a Course Correction if we need it.
It’s an absolutely wonderful time that ends with all of us feeling closer than ever as the family of God,
then the highlight, a touching communion service to celebrate the great gift of Salvation.
So it seems as if our Christmas season has sort of begun
with all these special things happening.
But of course, the work goes on, so here’s
The Re-Cap of What Happened on the blog this week:
Having a wedding in winter can be challenging, but there are also some real benefits. Our Winter Wedding Tips post is full of ideas for managing and manipulating the cold to your advantage.
Makes me want to plan a special winter occasion myself!
Our Tuesday post is dedicated to babies. This week we wrote on a topic close to our hearts.
When a baby is born with “a diagnosis” that will go with the whole family for the rest of their lives.
The dreams for your child change, but there are real goals and dreams you can have for every child. The dreams are different, yet can be just as rewarding. So while adjusting to the new dreams can take awhile, there is Peace In The Shadows, For His Love is Everywhere.
We skipped our Wednesday post, then Thursday, our Craft Day, we shared Printables for teachers, home-schoolers, and moms.
Get the link for the Rainbows and Butterflies, Racecars and Bullfrogs Coloring pages. There’s color-by-number and just plain fun pages for your boys and girls.
On Friday we go all introspective and analyzing and share experiences with negative Sticky Words.
No one lives life without getting hurt by words. That old rhyme “sticks and stones can break my bones, but words can never hurt me” was invented, I think, by someone out of touch with reality. Or someone hopeful that the impact of positive words spoken over and over could negate the hurt.
And that is true in the end, actually. But you need determination and prayer and encouraging supporters to get past the worst hurts inflicted by words.
So follow the links and read the posts that interest you.
Then check out our new Christmas cards starting here, then follow the breadcrumbs to the whole suite. We have 7 new designs at 3 different price points.
Re-caps from the net: ideas and stories to inspire you on the weekend…
When I was young, and living at home with a houseful of sibs, our Saturdays had certain rituals. We each had tasks assigned that we did every Saturday. They were given to us according to what we could do at our age, but they all contributed to the whole.
That whole was “getting ready for Sunday.” Preparing for the Sabbath.
Because at our house, we kept the Sabbath.
Whatever we could do on Saturday to prevent having to do on Sunday was the norm. Dusting and polishing, washing and waxing floors, vacuuming, baking, ironing church clothes – we all had something to do.
So reading this list of preparing for the Sabbath interested me. Try it in your family!
Reading aloud to your children is very important.
Yes, letting your child listen to someone else read aloud is a good babysitter at times.
But don’t miss out on the experience of togetherness with your child cuddled up to your shoulder, looking at the pictures while you read.
This post has a list of best books for 2020, and many of them are worth the look (and listen).
I’ve shared my soft spot for Holocaust stories before, and here’s a miracle story about the miracle reunion of two survivors you’ll definitely want to read.
Do you like downloads to make your own decor? Especially free, beautiful printables by Ann Voskamp?
I know. You won’t know which to choose.
Most people who know me know I’m not a phone person. This story describes exactly what would happen if I was put in this sort of situation. So funny and so true!
And a quote to take with you today:
Have a blessed and beautiful weekend!
