about Feb 14, sitting in the sun and QR Codes.
February 14
This year, this date could go down in history as the birth date of a granddaughter.
If that should be the case, and it’s okay if it doesn’t happen, we want something to share with you all to commemorate the occasion. Since I’ve been rather busy this week, we decided to share a card with you as our Fridge Quote. It will actually be a Fridge Printable to which you add your special love quotes. Or, if you’re adventurous, you could follow this DIY and hand watercolor the card. That would be sure to impress the persons you love.
At any rate, we love you, and hope you have a great February 14!
We will be on our way home from my BIL’s wedding…

Inspiring Inklings of Real Life
The World Outside Our Work Window
Ahh! The joys of a sister coming to visit. We sew together, laugh together, sit in the sun, laugh at James Herriot audible book as we sit in the sun, we catch up on our families and did I say we laugh?
We change over the years. Looking back to the days we sat in the sun together when she was 14 and I was 23… We were just becoming true friends. The age difference began closing then. Now we’re both 39. Or 49. The new 29. And we’re still sitting in the sun together and laughing and sharing our “I love this…” and “yuks” and “Oh, I have to tell you this.”
This time the space between was longer. Because of that which shall not be mentioned. But it’s just as sweet now that we’re together again. And it will be multiplied by 7 this weekend, when the rest who can come will be here.
We will do all the things together that have bound us over the years. But we will have quiet moments. Quiet moments of prayer and thoughts of “what if.” Because two of our sisters have husbands in the hospital. They were going to be here. They had tickets bought, plans made. Then, in a matter of a misstep here and an excruciating pain there, God changed our plans. We don’t ask why, we just try to accept, and trust His timing.
But we will surely miss them.
And if you would, say a prayer for my family these next days. Just if you remember…
Smirk:
My brain said salad.
But my stomach autocorrected to ice cream.
(My family loves ice cream.)
Books of the week:
“All Things Bright and Beautiful” Audible*
by
Reading the book keeps you smiling. Listening makes you laugh out loud. Especially if you’re sitting in the sun with your sister and listening together. (Until I fall asleep and she has to laugh alone.)
Amazon:
“Millions of readers and listeners have delighted in the wonderful storytelling and everyday miracles of James Herriot in the 50 years since his animal stories were first introduced to the world.
All Things Bright and Beautiful is the beloved sequel to Herriot’s first collection, All Creatures Great and Small, and picks up as Herriot, now newly married, journeys among the remote hillside farms and valley towns of the Yorkshire Dales, caring for their inhabitants – both two- and four-legged. Throughout, Herriot’s deep compassion, humor, and love of life shine as we laugh, cry, and delight in the portraits of his many varied animal patients and their equally varied owners.”
Our children’s book pick…
“Oscar, Cat About Town”*
by James Herriot, 1990
If James Herriot makes adults laugh together, how much more fun would it be to read his books with glittles? And littles?
Amazon:
“Nobody knows why a stray cat keeps sneaking away from his new home until he begins turning up at social events all over the village.“
