Boho Yarn Wall Hanging DIY By My G’littles
Boho Yarn Wall Hanging by my g’littles. Take their word for it, these simple, fast décor pieces are the slay DIY right now.
The day has come.
For so long my girl g’littles begged for Saturday night sleepovers followed by a day full of DIY. “Gramma, when can we come for night?” Sadly, those are words I don’t hear that often anymore.
Because, friends of kimenink, my girl g’littles are growing up. Thickening throat, here. They now do their own DIYs, and I only find out about them when they come dancing in with their latest trendy craft.
And this Boho Yarn Wall Hanging is the DIY they’re slaying right now. I almost wept when I saw them. So magnificently, beautifully simple with a huge statement. I HAD to share them with you. And my talented, energetic g’littles love sharing.
So, here we go…

Boho Yarn Wall Hanging DIY
Supplies:
- nice fat 12″ dowel.
- yarn, like this variegated, glittery skein
- sharp scissors (if you’re 12 and under, use your mom’s sewing scissors only with her permission!), tape measure
- pompom maker or a 2.5″x4″ piece of cardboard
Directions:
- Find the end of the yarn in the middle of the skein. This can be tricky, and I hope you don’t have to pull out half the middle before you find it. Ask me why I worry about that.
- Pull the yarn across a flat surface, like your dining room table. Cut the yarn where it changes color.
- Lay a strip of each color (some skeins have 3 colors, and some have 4 or 5) end to end on the table. When you have a pile with one of each color, pick them up in your hand, matching the ends.
- Fold the bundle in half around your forefinger, keeping the yarn straight and smooth. Place the dowel in front of the fold, then pull the loose ends of the yarn around the dowel and through the folded loop of yarn. Pull it tight around the dowel.
- Do this until you have a row of 20 knots across the dowel.
- Cut a 24″ piece of yarn for hanging, and knot it at each end of your row of knots.
- Pick 2 colors of the yarn for pompoms. Wrap one color at a time around the pompom maker, or the piece of cardboard. Wrap about 50 or more times, then tie tightly with a length of yarn and cut. Shake the pompom, and trim the ball nice and even. If you use the link above to buy a pompom maker, there’s a video that shows you how to make the pompom.
And that’s the Boho Yarn Wall Hanging!
Isn’t it the sweetest wall décor ever?
