Trust Your Unknown Future to A Known God
Trust your unknown Future to a known God? Take on the New Year with the confidence that your slate from the past year is wiped clean and God will bless you with His perfect plans for your future.
Christmas is over.
The wisemen have come and gone. (Generally thought to be January 6.)
Joseph and Mary are on their way back to Jerusalem. (Does anyone know how long they stayed in Bethlehem before the little donkey carried Mary and Baby Jesus back home?)
So these events have all been celebrated, and my Christmas decorations are still up.
Does that mean I’m lazy? Or is there an underlying emotion going on that I don’t want to address?
Am I procrastinating because I’m not ready to tackle a New Year?
Most of the time we’re anxious to put the past behind and begin again with a clean slate.
But what about if the slate doesn’t look very clean? Maybe I’ve brushed 2022 off, but 2023 is already cluttered with tasks that have to be looked at, but are hard to start and don’t seem to have a very desirable end result?
However, we know life has to go on for the living. And we want the best life possible. So how do we begin these less than desirable tasks that will no doubt improve our future?
Unknown Future, Known God: The Trust Factor
I don’t know what your undesirable New Year tasks are.
We have ours, and you have yours. Everyone has unique burdens to find their way through.
How does a Christian manage burdens? Or find the courage to dive into difficult tasks?
Let’s take a look at the go-to Scriptures…
The ultimate act on our part that helps us move forward?
Practicing faith. Believing a small beginning, baby steps of trust in a God who still provides miracles, WILL result in the plans He has for us: plans of good and not of evil.
Joy in Suffering
“When we choose to trust God in the unknown, in the most difficult parts of our stories, we experience the truest form of joy. It’s a joy that isn’t dependent on our circumstances — a joy that begins to transform the way our eyes see the challenges around us. This joy, which is a result of depending on the Holy Spirit, allows us to understand a little more of Jesus’ immense sacrifice on the Cross and, therefore, to truly see how this life is a beautiful gift.
“Though you have not seen Him, you love Him. Though you do not now see Him, you believe in Him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory” (1 Peter 1:8, English Standard Version).
God cares about you personally
and the hard things going on in your life right now.
He is with you in everything you are facing.
He will help in your uncertainty and suffering.
As soon as we give Him our trust.
God Bless You in 2023.
