Rahab Saves the Spies | Children’s Bible Lesson
How Rahab saves the spies is a Bible story that always thrills. Use our Children’s Bible Lesson for home study or your Sunday School class.
Rahab was busy. She had piles of flax on her roof, and the stalks must be tied into bunches. The street noises filled her ears as she worked. Then she heard voices coming closer – was someone at her gate? She stopped her work and listened. “Knock, knock.” She ran down the stairs. She pulled at the heavy gate. “May I help you?” she gasped, out of breath.
“Yes, please. We need a place to eat and sleep tonight.”
Rahab did not know the two men. She smiled kindly. “Come in.” She led them to a room. “You may wait here while I prepare your meal.”
Rahab built up the fire smoldering in the courtyard. She put a pot on to warm, and dipped water into drinking vessels. Again she heard noise in the street. A clanking, rattling racket. She looked up.
KNOCK! KNOCK! “Open the gate!”
Rahab ran to the room with the two strangers. “Quick! Come with me.” She pointed up to the roof. “Hide under the straw.”
Rahab hurried back and opened the gate. It was the King’s messengers! “Bring us the men that came to your house. They are spies!”
“S-s-spies? Some men came, but they went away. Oh, go quickly,” she said, pointing to the city gate.
“Maybe you can catch them!”
The messengers turned and charged down the street.
Now Rahab knew she must save the spies,
because by now she knew there was something special about these men.
And then, since Rahab made the choice to help God’s men, God had a special reward for her and her whole family!
