Manage Greeting Card Mailing: 4 How-To Ideas
Manage greeting card mailing with these 4 how-to ideas.
Occasions constantly catch me off-guard.
It’s so embarrassing, but I have to admit
that this greeting card designer
is the worst at managing mailing.
This idea list is for me first.
At Kim&Ink, we design and print wedding, birth announcement and special occasion cards for others
but do I remember my own family’s birthdays?
In May I thought of the two family birthdays coming up in June. Kim’s the second week, and our daughter-in-law, Annie’s, at the end of the month.
Wow, I don’t know if I can even share this, it’s so embarrassing.
Perhaps you remember me writing about this trip. Annie is one half of the mini-farm we visited out of state the first week of June.
I proudly tucked a very special card into the computer bag. Along with all the other little gifts and sweet things you take along to grandchildren when you go visit.
Every day I hauled out another fun something for the boys.
A huge bubble maker. Soooo much fun! The ginormous bubbles sailed as high as the trees were tall, and were perfect for chasing and popping.
Toy bow and arrows. A major hit, I modestly admit. Although not sturdy enough to last more than 2 days with the constant use.
Pictures colored by their cousins, which they taped all around their room.
Then I looked for the card I packed for Annie.
I knew it was in there because I’d had a collection pile for weeks before the trip.
I looked. And I looked. I went through every pocket in every bag. Then did it again.
And came up empty. Of course she laughed it off and said it was okay.
Maybe it was for her, but not for me.
It was over a week after we got home that I found the card. I had it along alright. It just got wedged deep into a pocket that folded under another pocket. Or something.
Try not to be like me.
Manage Greeting Card Mailing with these How To Ideas
Here are 4 ideas to manage greeting card mailing:
- Paper Calendar.
Have a calendar in your office or writing desk with all the family and friend birthdays and anniversaries you want to remember. You enter the dates manually to a pretty paper calendar, then keep it where you will be sure to see it frequently. Some people get cards ready for a whole month of occasions, with stamps and all, then simply post them at the proper time. - Online Calendar.
Google Calendar is a great online calendar. Enter all the names and dates, then set up reminders to get the card into the mail and arrive in time for the occasion. This post helps you set up your family calendar on Google. -
Calendar App.
Postable has many card designs ranging from goofy, joyous, pretty, or heartfelt, letting you pick the style and tone befitting the occasion. Some designs allow you to add photos to the card, while others come as-is. All designs allow for your personalized, digitally printed message inside. You choose the typeface, point size, and alignment. The quality of the printing and card stock are high but pay attention to the size of the cards. Some are smaller than you’d expect. With Postable, you can schedule cards to arrive on a date you choose. You can also save dates right on the app, and get reminders by email a few weeks before the occasion. This gives you time to line up a new batch of greeting cards. One card with postage costs approximately $4.50. Read more about Postable here.

Kim&Ink’s own SWAK Service.
When you purchase one of our handmade cards, you can add SWAK Service for a small additional charge. SWAK is the good old fashioned Sealed With a Kiss. We’ve added “Mailed With a Smile.” Don’t worry, though. We proudly keep a germ-free environment, and the sealing Kiss is actually a smile-shaped damp sponge. Or more often, a flourishing swipe of a peel and stick tab!
You give us your information (which we guard in our vintage lock and key metal case from my grandfather, of course), and your special message (which is printed in your font of choice). Then we place it in the envelope, address it, seal it with the kiss sponge and send it off with a forever stamp. We have some lux details to add to the basic SWAK service. We’ll add glitter confetti to shower them with more well-wishes when they open the card. Or you can email us your handwritten message which we transfer into the card for you. Our basic SWAK Service starts at $2.
