How to Make a Kraft Wedding Poem Scroll
How to make a Kraft Wedding Poem Scroll
for your special day,
or to use as wall décor in your new together home
as a brand new couple.
Something old, something new,
Something borrowed, something blue.
Is there a line in that poem that says “something handmade” too?
If there isn’t, there should be, don’t you think?
Handmade by the bride or her bridesmaid or a friend,
this is the perfect addition to the special event.
Kraft Wedding Poem Scroll DIY Decor
This post, 17 Bridal Shower Ideas for a Bookworm Bride, has all the inspiration for putting on a shower for a teacher or librarian or any book crazy bride.
This scroll could be incorporated into the theme of a Bridal Shower,
or monogramed and used as a sign at the wedding.
Or give it as gift to your bookworm friend who is about to be married.
Hey, I think I’ll hang this one in our master bedroom.
We all need this inspirational poem about love.

What you need:
- Kraft paper on a roll, like this gift wrap or this heavy kraft paper roll.
- Wedding poem of your choice.
- Black marker such as this one and/or these.
- Transfer paper.
- Stylus or pencil, scissors, tape.
How to do it:
- Type your Wedding Poem in your favorite word app, then blow it up to the size you want. It will need to be spread over several pages. Print the Wedding Poem. Tape the pages together to get the size of your choice: 18″ x 30″ or 24″ x 36″.
- Cut the kraft paper to size. Tape securely to a smooth wall or table work surface. Try to tape only the top and bottom so the sides don’t get damaged. Unless you plan to deckle/tear the edges. Then it doesn’t matter where you place tape.
- Tape the transfer paper to the project. Again, be careful where you place the tape. Be sure the graphite transferring side is next to the kraft paper. You DO NOT want to go over the whole project, only to find the transferring all happened on the back of your pattern. Ask me how I know.
- Complete the sandwich by taping the Wedding Poem pattern on the top.
- Trace the letters with the stylus or pencil.
- This is an easy project, but it’s not fast. Trace carefully. Then remove the pattern and transfer paper, and go over the letters with the black markers.
Your Wedding Poem Scroll printing is done.
Now to finish the scroll:
- Finish the edges as desired. Cut/leave them straight. Deckle/tear the edges for a more farmhouse, rustic look. Antique the paper edges with a brown stamp pad. Use your imagination, keeping in mind the décor it needs to match.
- Roll the top and bottom of the scroll slightly.
- Glue a strip of thin wood or thick chipboard to the back of the top edge of the scroll, about 2″ down from the top edge, to allow the edge to remain curled.
- Poke holes through the wood or chipboard and string a hanger cord through. Use natural cotton twisted rope or jute twine or soutache braid. Pick something to fit the décor. Add tassels if desired.
