A Comprehensive Getting-Ready-for-Baby Guide
A Comprehensive Getting-Ready-for-Baby Guide
that’s a collection of our best posts
about nursery décor, layette tips
and baby’s book choices.
Getting ready for baby is the most fun you will ever have.
But it can also be confusing because of all the choices (which brand of diapers is the best?) and all the advice (which psychologist knows the right way?).
With a little research you can usually make your decisions, and having family and friends who have been there before helps, too. And we have a few tips to share with you, also, that we’ve studied in our quest for producing quality stationery.
(Yes, stationery and researching healthy, happy babies sometimes overlaps.)
1. Planning Baby’s Nursery
Paint colors, fabric swatches, and your favorite baby furniture store will become your new best friends in the nine months of planning for baby.
If navy is your color choice, check out this post.

2. Filling the Nursery
Furnishing your baby’s nursery involves more than paint and furniture.
What style of changing stations will work best for you?
We picked 10 inexpensive but super helpful baby items to consider.
There’s the layette to buy or put on your registry to fill all the drawers and closets.
3. Decking the Nursery Walls
Everyone has a theme they want their baby’s room to portray.
It might be classic, shabby chic, vintage or boho. It might be a theme you carefully choose, or an eclectic mix of things you really love.
Be on the look out for our free nursery printables and DIY ideas we offer once a month. There might be something you can use for your nursery walls.

4. Be Sure to Outfit a Bookcase
Paramount among the things you choose and collect for baby should be a book collection.
You’ll need Christmas themed books, book titles from the vintage classics, and best loved picture books.
You will spend hours and hours bonding over books with your baby, so a large library of choices is practically a priority.
And get ready to read their favorites over and over and over until you have them memorized and you think there’s not another way to read it to make it interesting.
5. You will need mommy outfits.
Next on the must do list is mommy’s “baby” wardrobe.
If you choose to nurse baby, there are special patterns you can make for sewing modest nursing dresses.
We’re not trying to guilt you into nursing your baby. It may not be a viable option for your family, and that’s okay. We’re more concerned that you will be comfortable in your role as Christian parents. And that looks different for different people.
6. Announcing Your New Baby to the World
Pick your stationery to match your nursery theme, or go with a minimalist design.
Here at kim + ink we also create OOAK designs, where you tell us your paper wishes and we wave a magic wand and produce it for you! Just fill out this form, and give us your sweet dreams for a birth announcement or Sip-n-See Invitation.
7. Time to think about Life With Baby
There are apps out there to make life easier for parents with babies.
But, of course, there’s no app to help you pick a name for baby. Will you go traditional or inventive? Names define a child, so pick something you and your little one will be able to live with forever.
Also, technology may be able to help put baby to sleep, but it won’t be able to keep her safe if we don’t know how to manage baby safety and sleep schedules.
There’s the guide;
now we’re wishing you all the best of times with baby!
