While it’s really special having an outdoor event,
there can be drawbacks.
The breezes can wreak havoc on table covers.
These shabby chic rag bows can be as fancy or as rustic as you wish,
all while keeping things in place.
How perfect is that?
Chic Rag Bow DIY
If you need a lot of bows, you’ll want to plan and buy the supplies in bulk.
If you just need a couple you can use ribbons, twine, jute, cotton, or whatever you have in your stash.
We happen to have lots of muslin in our stash, so we’ll use the torn strips as the bulk of the tutorial bow.
Supplies:
- 1/2 yard each of 3 fabrics for tearing: muslin, cotton (tiny prints, pastels), gauze.
- 3 yards each of 3 or 4 width variations of ribbon, lace, jute, seam binding.
- 2 yards of pearl bead trim, white or pastel, if desired.
Directions:
You can see how to tie the bows to secure a tablecloth on an outdoor table in the top right and bottom left of the above picture.
Unfortunately, we don’t have a bridal shower to decorate for, or I might have a complete tablecloth in the picture. I used a gauze table runner, which was simply beautiful with the rag bow tied around the corner.
Then I hung it in my all-vintage guest room from a dresser knob. Gorgeous!
NOTE:
If you use these bows at a shower,
use them as favors for guests to take home.
Everyone gets to keep a memory,
and you don’t keep a plethora of bows.
Enjoy making your rustic rag bows!
