Book-themed Bridal Shower Games
Book-themed Bridal Shower Games
for the bride who loves books.
Maybe your bride/school teacher friend
would enjoy games she’d be sure to win!
In this post we collated 17 ideas to help put on a book-themed bridal shower.
Since then we’ve got a few more game ideas to suggest for a bookish bride.
Because books and us, we’re kind of inseparable.
Book In a Jar
Prep the Game:
- Collect 4 or 5 clear glass jars (Mason jars could work).
- Get old classic books (preferably famous love stories) from your stash or the thrift store.
- Cut the books out of the spines so all the pages are loose, but keeping each book separate.
- Cut the pages into strips, about 3/4″ wide, so that sentences run the direction of the strips.
- Pick the strips up in one bunch, all going the same way, and slip into a jar, one book to a jar. Try to make this a bit of a challenge, taking out strips that give the story away too easily. Let the strips mix up and twist slightly.
- Glue the lids on the jars (or instruct players not to open them). Decorate if you wish.
How to Play the Game:
- Pass paper and pencils around.
- Pass the jars around and ask everyone to write down the titles and authors of the books without opening the jars and taking pieces out.
- The player who guesses all the titles correctly is the winner.
Ideas for books to use:
- Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
- Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell
- Anne’s House of Dreams by L. M. Montgomery
- Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
- On the Banks of Plum Creek by Laura Ingalls Wilder
- Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
An alternative to using famous novels could be an old Bible Story book, and use the best Bible love stories. Ruth and Boaz. Mary and Joseph. Esther and King Ahasuerus. Jacob and Rachel. Abraham and Sarah. Adam and Eve. Use smaller jars if you end up with fewer strips, or fill in with blank strips.
Match the Bible Couples Game
There are likely many versions of this game available,
but we didn’t see one with Bible couples, so here goes with our version.
You can purchase the printable game HERE.
All you need to play the game is the printable copies, pencils and people.
Name the Bible Couple in these stories
This game is a variation on the one above.
There’s a snippet of their story, then players try to guess who the couple was.
Note: Tell players some don’t have actual names, other than, “Sam’s” wife or “Sam and his wife.”
You can get this game here.
We hope you enjoy these
Book-themed Bridal Shower Games.
And if you have more ideas for us, we’d love to hear about them.
Also, more bookish ideas for Bridal Shower Decor is this wall backdrop idea, and use book pages glued together instead of kraft paper.
