The Bible Story of Lazarus

Many years ago, Jesus lived here on earth.

He had many friends.  When He was in the city of Bethany, Martha invited him to visit.  Jesus often went to their home.

Then Martha and Mary’s brother Lazarus got sick.  The sisters were worried.  If Jesus would come and visit, He could heal their brother.  Quickly they sent someone to tell Him.

The messenger found Jesus. “Lord, someone you love is very sick.”

Jesus was sad to hear his friend was sick.  The disciples thought he would go to his friend right away.  He told the disciples this sickness would not end in death. Lazarus would live.

One day passed, and then another.  Jesus said, “Let’s go to Bethany.”

Sandals raised little dust clouds on the road to the little town.

Jesus said,

“I’m glad I wasn’t in Bethany, because now you will see God’s power.”
