Baby Shower Game Ideas That Are Actually Fun
Looking for Baby Shower Game ideas that are actually fun?
Here’s a few games guaranteed to break the ice
and get your event off and running.
Statistically, 90% of Baby Shower attendees hate the games they have to play while they wait for the best stuff: the gift opening and the food.
We’ve personally been to a few baby showers where we wished we could skip the “fun and games.”
But we’ve also been to a few baby showers where there actually was fun and games.
Like the shower where the shyest person ended up wearing a blouse front full of clothespins. You guessed it. She never said the word “baby” the whole evening. While she heard every one else blabbing it over and over, she got to steal their pins.
Random Question: Have you ever wondered why clothespins* are involved in a lot of baby shower games? Why do clothespins and babies go together? Who even uses clothespins anymore? But just in case you want to try that game, here’s the link* to buy colorful mini clothespins. (Items with * are affiliate links.)
Baby Shower Game Ideas Everyone Will Enjoy
Ready for our guaranteed list that will magically transform a baby shower into an event everyone will be eager to attend?
We promise your guests will love these.
Diaper Dialogues
You will need:
- Box of disposable diapers
- Colored markers
Hand each guest a disposable diaper as they arrive. Ask each one to write a message for mommy on the diaper. Put all the diapers back into the box, and the new mom will get to enjoy the messages as she cleans up baby.
Guess The Contents
You will need:
- Diaper bag
- 15 or more different baby items
- Blank index cards and pencils
Before the shower, buy a diaper bag and fill it with 15 or more baby items. At the shower, pass the diaper bag around and give each guest a minute to look in the bag. Hand out blank index cards and pencils. After the bag is back in your hands, ask them to write down the items they remember seeing in the bag. The person who remembers the most items wins. And mommy-to-be gets the diaper bag.
Changing Baby Relay
You will need:
- Two or more baby dolls
- 2 cloth diapers and 2 old fashioned diaper pins for each doll
- baby wipes for each doll.
Create baby changing stations for each baby doll, with wipes, 2 cloth diapers and 2 old fashioned diaper pins at each station. Ask guests to form lines of five to eight people in front of each changing station. Outline a baby changing sequence for the guests: remove diaper, wipe bottom, fold a new diaper, pin it on baby doll. See which team can get through the sequence the fastest.
Rubber Ducky Duck
You will need:
- plastic baby tub or large bowl
- rubber ducks
- Option: prize for each duck
Fill the baby tub with water, and float the rubber ducks in the water. Option: number the ducks and have a prize ready to match the numbers. Each guest bobs for a duck with hands behind their back. If they get a duck, they get a prize.
Random Advice: Don’t ever think a baby shower is about winning the games. There’s only one winner. I mean that. The same people win at every. single. baby shower. Some people’s brains are just wired that way. To win games at baby showers. How sick is that? (Yeah, sour grapes. I NEVER. EVER. win.)
Baby Shower Game Printables
The easiest games are the paper handouts, and we have a few that are proven winners.
Our Baby Shop has Shower Games in all our Stationery Suite printable designs. The “Who Is My Mother?” Game is by far our bestseller. This game lists Bible characters, and guests fill in the mother’s name. Some are easy, but some definitely challenge the memory. Print out as many pages as you need, and get a supply of pencils. Game ready!
Note: Buy a box with half as many cheap pencils as you’ll need and ask someone to cut them in half for you. Sharpen the pencils and place them in a cute mug or small mason jar. Pencils aren’t that expensive, but this will make it easier to toss them later. Or purchase “baby” pencils here in just the amount you need.

These are such cute ideas!! I have played that diaper changing game at a co-ed shower before and it’s a lot of fun. I also really love the rubber ducky game! I always liked playing games at showers but I always have that mindset like you said, there are people that always win and I’m not one of them lol. This is so cute!
I actually enjoy most of the games, too. They sure help to break the ice. Thanks for sharing!
