18 of the Best Holiday Dips for Sweet or Salty
18 of the Best Holiday Dips for Sweet or Salty to add to your Holiday food planner. The hot, cheesy dips look especially appealing for cold weather snacking.
So this Friday evening is our g’littles school Christmas Program.
We’re all so excited!
I’ll admit I’m not as excited as the g’littles, who get to wear their new Christmas dresses their mom and I worked on last week. Or the littlest g’little who loves the treat bags the school board hands out to all the children after the program.
Side note, here. Does any school make their students stand like we had to when I went to a little one room school? The girls had to cup their hands in front of them, while the boys had theirs behind their backs. For some reason that made me feel silly, but I guess it takes care of fidgeting. Except Elvira. Her hands were never still, even if they were clasped at her waist in the front. With her elbows swinging back to front at her sides. We were supposed to have them loosely cupped below our waists, but she didn’t get the memo. So she was always accidentally jabbing the ones who stood on either side of her. And then there was sweet, shy Josie. She swayed from side to side. It would start with her shoulders, then become her whole body. Swaying like a pendulum on an arc. I sincerely hope none of my old school buddies read this, because there are some, and I won’t mention names, who love to remind me what I was like in school.
So we’ll fast forward to the present.
We’re all bringing snacks to enjoy together at the social hall after the Christmas Program, and I was looking for a hot dip to take. There’s usually lots of sweets, so we’ll need some salty variations.
Here’s a few that look good to me:
18 of the Best Holiday Dip Recipes
These are my picks. Click on the titles to find the recipes.
1. Crock Pot Buffalo Chicken Dip
This one tops the list, because it’s likely the one I’ll make.
2. Skillet Nacho Dip
This one is in second place because it’s in a cast iron skillet. I’m going to bake my chicken dip in a cast iron pot.
3. Baked BLT Dip
This one looks seriously good to me, but I’m not sure everyone else would like it. I’ll have to try it with the family, first.
4. Buffalo Chicken Dip
Another chicken dip, because this one has more interesting ingredients.
5. Sweet Onion and Bacon Dip
Definitely want to try this one at home sometime. But for this occasion I want a hot dip.
6. Pecan Praline Dip
Hmm. This one looks really sweet, and if I could get the pralines right, I think we’d like it.
7. Warm Spinach Sweet Onion Dip with Country Ham
Yum! This one looks delicious! Definitely one I’ll try this Holiday season.
8. Caramelized Onion Dip
I can never say no to caramelized onions!
9. Hot Crab and Shrimp Dip
My sea-food loving boys would enjoy this one.
10. Texas Caviar
This dip looks so festive!
11. Caramel Apple Dip
This is a staple for snacking. But this one is high on my to-try list with it’s caramelized top.
12. Almond Dip
This I know I won’t make, but isn’t it adorable? Maybe I’ll have to make it with the g’littles, someday.
13. Best Spinach Dip Ever
No list of dips is complete without a spinach dip. It’s one of my favorites, but I hardly ever make it.
14. Cranberry Salsa
This one is strictly here because it’s made with a popular Holiday food.
15. Cream Cheese Penguins
Another one to try with the g’littles. Even if they don’t taste good, they look fun enough to go to the work.
16. Chocolate Chip Cheese Ball
On the list because of the cinnamon churros used for dipping! On the other hand, who needs dip if you have churros?
17. Baked Brie with Caramelized Pears, Shallots and Thyme
A great big yes from me, to try when the family comes for Christmas.
18. Annie’s Fruit Dip with Cinnamon Chips
I like fruit dip, but would never make it for my family. They would eat the cinnamon chips, but the dip? Not so much.
They’d say if I want to make a chunky dip, it should be tomato salsa.
Another point in its favor is the holiday look…
So that’s my list of 18 of the Best Holiday Dips to try this year.
