Angel of Time: God’s Messenger Guided Her Home
The creek gurgled and birds chorused from newly leafed trees. It was spring. And the Angel of Time, God’s Messenger, came to guide her home.
The water rushes and gurgles over rocks, twisting and dancing around bends. Water newly freed from ice that clogged the creek all winter long.
Spring birds chirp loudly, hidden in the fresh green on the trees. Their songs swell with the melody of new life and sweet hope.
The sounds she was waiting for.
Christmas wasn’t the right time. Not the time when the Hope of Life is celebrated. When the birth of the One Who makes life worth living happened.
The angel had come to her then.
…The Angel of Time…
“Where is he?” she asked.
“Where is who?” her husband asked, looking around.
“The angel. He was here. He asked me if I wanted to go with him. Now he’s gone.”
“Why didn’t you go with him?” he asked. They had talked about this. They were looking forward to her release from her prison of pain.
But she said no.
“I told him I wanted to hear the creek running and see the green of new leaves through my window one more time. So he left.”
The Angel came again.
Two months later.
But the creek wasn’t running yet. The trees were still bare. She could hang on a little longer.
Then it was Easter.
And the Angel of Time came once more.
This time she eagerly clasped the angel’s hand and traveled with him past the rushing creek. They left the fresh green of the trees far behind.
And now?
Now she sees wonders we can’t even imagine.
Our greatest imagination of beauty is a creek in spring. Or the wonder of new green leaves covering branches that were bare through a cold winter.
Which truly is a miracle. And a promise.
A promise of so much more to come.
When we go with our Angel of Time.
What does God say about the Angel of Time?
When we will die is not a matter of accident or chance; the Bible makes it clear that our lives are in God’s hands. He knows the time of our death, and He has even appointed it. The Bible says, “Man’s days are determined; you (God) have decreed the number of his months and have set limits he cannot exceed” (Job 14:5).

When we have peace in Christ, we don’t need to be anxious about our time to die.
God may not tell us when we will die.
We may not have the chance, the way my friend did, to choose our time to go.
But we know this…
the Angel of Time will be right there with us.
God’s Messenger, sent to be our guide, will be there, holding our hand,
leading us through the gate from this world to the great world to come.
